Clive M. Liu, MD, PLLC, FABD

Dr. Liu is a board-certified dermatologist specializing in all disorders of the skin, with primary clinical and research interests in psoriasis, eczema, and skin cancer. He earned his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, followed by a clinical research fellowship in psoriasis at University of California, San Francisco. Next, he finished a dermatology residency at University of Utah, where he was honored as Chief Resident in 2002. After residency, he became a faculty member at the University of Utah's Department of Dermatology and performed further research into gene expression in psoriasis. In 2004, he and his wife moved to Seattle, a decision that they are very happy to have made. Dr. Liu is currently a member of the adjunct faculty at University of Washington's Division of Dermatology. He is a national speaker and key opinion leader in psoriasis. He has been the honorary medical director of the National Psoriasis Foundation Walk and is a member of its President Circle. He also volunteers as an attending dermatologist at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center. Since joining the staff at Bellevue Dermatology, in addition to serving the community's general medical dermatologic needs, he has establish an acclaimed center for the research and treatment of psoriasis and other inflammatory skin conditions.

Christine Hwang, PA-C

Christine Hwang, PA-C, is a dedicated Certified Physician Assistant specializing in dermatology. With a passion for skincare and patient wellness, Christine brings a compassionate and detail-oriented approach to Bellevue Dermatology.

Graduating from the University of Washington School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program, Christine holds a Master of Clinical Health Services degree. She completed rigorous clinical rotations, including specialized training in dermatology. Prior to becoming a physician assistant, Christine received a B.F.A. in illustration at Pasadena Art Center College of Design as well as a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from California State University of Dominguez Hills.

Her commitment to ongoing education and staying abreast of the latest advancements in dermatology ensures that her patients receive the highest standard of care in both medical and cosmetic dermatology. Some of the areas of treatment include diagnosis and treatment of common skin conditions (acne, eczema, psoriasis, warts, rosacea etc.), skin cancer screenings and management as well as cosmetic procedures (Botox).

Driven by a genuine desire to improve the lives of patients, Christine is dedicated to promoting skin health and confidence. She believes in fostering open communication and empowering patients with knowledge to take control of their dermatologic wellness.

In her free time when she is not shuttling her two girls to various extracurricular activities, volunteering at their school and getting meals on the table, she can be found tending to her sourdough starter, baking loaves for family and friends and cramming a reading session to finish up the latest novel for book club.

Lawrence Gogenola, MD

A native of the Pacific Northwest, Dr. Gogenola graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine and was board-certified in dermatology in 1987. He has been practicing dermatology in Bellevue since 1988. Dr. Gogenola's special interests include the treatment and prevention of skin cancer, cosmetic dermatology, and the treatment of acne. He is also an avid skier and enjoys physical fitness and conditioning.

Melanie K Kuechle, MD

Dr. Kuechle is board certified dermatologist with a clinical interest in autoimmune skin diseases and inflammatory skin diseases. She earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. She then went on to complete a dermatology residency and immunodermatology fellowship, both at Mayo Clinic, Rochester Minnesota.  After residency and fellowship, she took a position in the laboratory of Dr. Beverly Dale at the University of Washington, studying epidermal function and differentiation, and how these relate to skin disorders. In her greater than 25 years of practice, she has seen incredible advances in dermatology and enjoys offering those advances, both in diagnoses and therapies, to her patients. She also practices as an immunopathologist at CTA Pathology and as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Utah School of Medicine in the division of immunodermatology. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and adult children, traveling, and enjoying the Seattle food and wine scene.

Susan Duffy, PA-C

Although Susan Duffy was born in Brooklyn, NY, she has spent most of her life in the Pacific Northwest.  She obtained her undergraduate degree from Washington State University and earned her Doctorate in Chiropractic with honors from Western States College in Portland, OR.  Adding to this impressive resume is her degree in Physician Assistant in Clinical Health Science from the University of Washington School of Medicine.  She has practiced as a physician assistant for many years, first in family medicine, and then joined the field of dermatology in 2000.  She has worked closely with her physician mentors and continues to do so in order to provide the best care in both medical and cosmetic dermatology, including but not limited to skin cancer screening, acne, rosacea, psoriasis, and eczema.  She is experienced and quite comfortable with performing minor skin surgeries and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures.  She has been with Bellevue Dermatology Clinic since 2018 and thoroughly enjoys the opportunity to serve this community.  Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her children and her pet, an adorable Labra-doodle (feel free to ask for photos).  Susan’s other hobbies include gardening and hiking.  Her philosophy of care aligns with that of Bellevue Dermatology Clinic: to provide excellent dermatologic care to our patients, and to treat everyone with utmost respect.  Please call our office to see Susan today!
